Our story
We started Puervitae because buying supplements in Ireland was confusing.
Walk into most Irish pharmacies and you'll find three things: a wall of products with no explanation of what makes one better than another, staff who are too busy to give you a proper answer, and prices that vary wildly for what is essentially the same thing.
Puervitae started with one simple question: what would a supplement store look like if it prioritised being honest over being profitable?
That means explaining why a magnesium glycinate is more bioavailable than magnesium oxide. It means being clear that not every product works for every person. It means telling you what the evidence actually says, rather than what sounds best in a marketing email.
What we believe
Most people want to make good decisions about their health. They just need clear information to do it. Our job is to provide that — not to tell you what to buy, but to give you what you need to decide for yourself.
We also believe that the supplement industry has a credibility problem. Products are often marketed with claims that overstate the evidence. We try to do the opposite: explain exactly what the research shows, and where there is genuine uncertainty, say so plainly.
Based in Ireland
We are registered and based in Ireland. We understand the Irish context — the chronic Vitamin D deficiency, the selenium-poor soil, the specific challenges of living at this latitude. That shapes which products we stock and how we write about them.
